The “A Grain of Wheat: The 1980s Contemporary Art Memorial Exhibition” opened at Ui ART Museum, SIP on Sept 19, and will last till Mar 1, 2026. On display are over 80 works leading visitors to trace the root and trajectory of the development of contemporary art in China.
The exhibits, including paintings, photos, installations and behavior art, are from 39 artists and teams. The exhibition is designed to inspire the viewers to think about what to do with the spiritual legacy of the “85 New Wave” art movement that flourished in the 1980s and how to carry forward the unfulfilled ideals and missions in art.
There are guided tours of the exhibition every week, and a series of academic forums and lectures on art of the 1980s during the exhibition.
