The 2025 WTA 125 Suzhou Open kicked off at Sungent International Tennis Center in SIP on Sept 29 and will last till Oct 5. About 80 female players from around the world will compete in 58 matches.
On the morning of the first day, German player Tatjana Maria secured her first victory at this event. She was deeply impressed by the scenic views of Yangcheng Lake.
In the afternoon, Yulia Putintseva from Kazakhstan won her singles match. “I visited Suzhou before, and I’m very happy to be back. Today’s match was thrilling, and I’m really looking forward to trying Suzhou’s delicacies this evening,” she said.
“In addition to the matches, we have devised a series of cultural activities where the contestants will visit Suzhou Museum, sample authentic local food, enjoy Kunqu opera performances, try on traditional Chinese costumes and visit an embroidery studio to experience the essence and charm of local culture,” said Zhou Yunsong, the tournament director.
