Recently, a joint inspection mechanism piloted by the SIP Customs and the customs office at Shanghai Pudong International Airport for the purpose of promoting collaborative customs inspection over special goods across the Yangtze River Delta region was selected as one of the sixth series of best practices at pilot free trade zones by the Ministry of Commerce of China.
Under the mechanism, the customs office at Shanghai Pudong International Airport is responsible for appearance and basic information inspection and SIP Customs for owner side inspection in order to protect cargos in vacuum or lightproof packages and those in need of storage at a constant temperature.
The mechanism is one of over 240 achievements that the China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone Suzhou Area has made in institutional innovation. Of these achievements, 14 have been duplicated nationwide and 63 applied across Jiangsu province.
